Status of Damage: Hurricane Helene

Considering the damage caused by Hurricane Helene, I want to say I am thankful that our staff & residents at FCHA are safe.

So far, it appears we only have some minor damage to our property compared to the catastrophic damage that occurred in other areas of NC & in other states. Please be patient, as cleanup is underway & will be ongoing for some weeks. The FCHA staff are working to manage clean-up on the properties as well as at their homes.

Many still have no power or water in their homes or businesses. Triple E Tree Service is on the property as of today (9/30/24) assessing the damage.

The first tree to be removed will be the felled tree on the back of the F building.

Triple E Tree Service will be here again later for a complete clean-up but others with more damage to their buildings will be cared for first. Please be patient as we plan to reopen our office as soon as possible.

In the meantime, please visit our website to report work orders; this will be the quickest way for you to receive service if there is a problem with or in your unit. Please volunteer & help others in our community if you can. If you are physically unable to help, remember to be kind to one another and pray for our County, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, Asheville, and the surrounding areas. Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc, especially on the families and properties in these areas. It is heartbreaking to see such devastation.

With much love,

Michelle Driver
Executive Director
